Mark Your Calendars for the Great Falls & Topaz Vaulters Fall Vaulting Festival

The Great Falls & Topaz Vaulters Fall Fest (AVA/USEF) will be held the weekend of September 19-20 in Herndon, Virginia at Frying Pan Park. Judges will be Craig Coburn (FEI C) and Suzanne Detol (FEI O). The competition offers vaulting events at all levels on both horse and barrel. There will be events for beginners who recently started vaulting, "Masters" classes for adult beginners and those returning to training after a break, and "Para" events for therapeutic vaulters—AND A COSTUME CLASS (see class list for details)!

The registration deadline is Tuesday, August 25 at 11PM Eastern. CompWeb passwords have been sent out to each club.

The DREAM Park in Logan Township, New Jersey

The AVA Region IX Championships were held at the Gloucester County DREAM Park. Here are some pictures from this venue.

For the Love of Pete

Meet Pete. Great Fall's Vaulters generously stepped up and offered us Pete when Hershey was under the weather last weekend at Regionals. Thanks, Great Falls and Jen Williams for your generosity and thanks to Pete for being such a great horse. He worked hard for everyone. Pete won Canter Horse of the competition and he deserved it. : )

Ben from Topaz Vaulters

NEV needed to borrow a walk/trot horse at Regionals last weekend, because our horse came down with a fever. We were very lucky to be able to borrow Ben from Topaz Vaulters. What an awesome horse Ben is—in every respect! He is a true giant—in size and spirit! And he won the Region's Trot Horse award!

Region IX Vaulting Championships

New England Valkyries is EXCITED to be bring seven vaulters to the Region IX Championships in Logan Township, NJ this year. Five of the NEV vaulters are brand new to the sport, which reflects growing interest in vaulting. We have 2 weeks of practice left.

Also making his competition debut—Hershey! We'll be "tweeting" live from the event if you want to follow us at NEValkyries on Twitter.

Winter Vaulting Begins!

Winter Vaulting begins January 4th! During the coldest months of the year, NEV vaulters head indoors to work on the barrel, perfect compulsories and develop freestyle routines. You can find them on Sunday afternoons in the Littleton, MA Library where they vault in the recreation room.

The barrel isn't only for practice. By working hard on the barrel, vaulters are able to get the most out of their time on the horse. Most vaulting events also include barrel competitions.
